Hezbollah leader, Naim Qassem, affirmed his commitment to establishing close coordination with the Lebanese Army to ensure the implementation of the ceasefire agreement with Israel, which began two days earlier following an escalation of conflict involving both sides in southern Lebanon.
"The coordination between the resistance (Hezbollah) and the Lebanese Army will be carried out at the highest level to implement the agreement’s commitment," said Qassem, as reported by AFP news agency on Saturday (30/11/2024).
He emphasized that there would be no "issues or disagreements" between Hezbollah and the Lebanese Army in carrying out the agreement.

Claim of Victory Over Israel
In its first official statement following the ceasefire that began on Wednesday morning (27/11), Hezbollah declared "victory" over Israel. The statement also affirmed Hezbollah fighters' readiness to confront any Israeli threats.
"Victory from the Almighty God is the ally of the righteous cause," read the Hezbollah statement, released on Thursday (28/11).
However, the statement did not directly address the specific terms of the ceasefire agreement with Israel.
Furthermore, Hezbollah stated that its fighters would remain in "full readiness" to face any ambitions or attacks from Israel in the future.
Ongoing Conflict and Recent Escalation
Israel began launching a series of intense airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions in Lebanon on September 23, 2024. These airstrikes were followed by the deployment of ground forces to southern Lebanon, escalating the conflict further.
Tensions had been rising over the past year with ongoing cross-border attacks between Israel and Hezbollah, coinciding with the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
Hezbollah had previously stated that its attacks on Israel were acts of solidarity with Hamas, the primary party involved in the fighting in Gaza.
Challenges in Ceasefire Implementation
Although the ceasefire has been implemented, the situation on the ground remains fragile. Hezbollah has emphasized that it will not be complacent about potential Israeli threats. Coordination between Hezbollah and the Lebanese Army is crucial to maintaining stability in the region, although significant challenges remain amidst the complex political and military dynamics.
With both sides holding potential for significant conflict, the ceasefire is seen as an important but fragile step toward de-escalation in a region that has long been a focal point of geopolitical tensions.
